BUILT Founder's Talk

Please come to discuss and analyze the real-life issues faced by startups and how those issues can be overcome on Tuesday, December 18th!


1. Ridj-it:

a community adventure platform that connects enthusiasts through carpool, ticket booking, and other tools to go hiking, biking, surfing, and more. With over 2,500 rides given, thousands of dollars of business conducted with rural providers, and a multitude of friendships formed, Ridj-it is the dream of founders Ari Iaccarino, Rik Ganguly, and Alex Nikitin. Co-founder Ari will be speaking about the founders' connections between their professional work in education and public health with Ridj-it, as well as the challenges of building community between multiple communities in New England.

2. Vargas Coaching:

Anthony Vargas's professional career started in physics research after earning his PhD. He now supports others in by partnering with them to identify what would have them be empowered, fulfilled, and in action. He helps individuals and organizations get into more effective action around their goals, see new possibilities for moving forward, and stay in action around the thing they say they are committed to. He is a graduate of Accomplishment Coaching, the world's finest coach training program. He is now part of their advanced leadership training and mentoring program where he trains and mentors coaches.

3. The Magic of Ryan Lally:

Ryan Lally is a 21 year old MBA student at UMass Boston. As a young teenager, he took his passion for magic tricks and started a small business performing for birthday parties in his neighborhood. Having taught himself basic business principles as a teenager, he has evolved his birthday party business into a corporate entertainment service and is frequently featured at private corporate events and cocktail parties.

4. Cliqq:

Vlad Shulman and Alaska Lam are co-founders of a startup designed to help people meet friends with similar values and priorities. Combining an app + curated events, they are working to ensure friendship is not left to chance.

5. Incluvie:

Cathy Yee is a Boston native and the CEO and founder of Incluvie - the IMDb for diversity in movies and TV, with the mission of social impact and change. Before Incluvie, Cathy was an engineering project manager at Johnson & Johnson, leading technical service for medical devices worldwide. She received her Masters in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California, and her Bachelors at the University of Connecticut. For active fun, she likes dance – particularly hip hop and dancehall, as well as running along the Charles River in Boston, and a secret joy for foosball. Cathy has a passion for diversity in film, and is happy to partner with Boston University, Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern, along with affiliate change organizations with her work on Incluvie.
